Are You Inspired to Teach the Next Generation of STEM Leaders?
Looking for first semester Seniors and first semester Graduate Students in Fall 2024 who are majoring/have a degree in a STEM field of study. You can earn $40,000+ in scholarships in our six-year program to become teachers in high-need schools!
The seeks to recruit, certify, and actively support 16 new science (biology, chemistry, earth science, and physics) and mathematics teachers to teach in high-need schools through:
- Cultivating teachers who believe it is important to be anti-racist, actively working to break down barriers and inequities in schools
- Teaching research-based student-centered learning approaches aligned with Culturally Relevant Education
Coursework that explicitly supports authentic integration of engineering and technology
Work Toward Becoming a Science or Math Teacher While Earning $40,000 in Scholarships.
The project is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program.
Deadline for Cohort 4 is June 1, 2024
Requirements:
- Application including transcript, resume, essay, letters of recommendation
- United States Citizen or Permanent Resident (proof required)
- Interview with MISTI Faculty via Zoom
- 3.0 or better GPA in a relevant STEM field of study (biology, chemistry, earth science, math or physics)
- 100 hours of classroom observation during the school year
- One year of student teaching 鈥 one semester at the middle school level and one semester at the high school level in our partner schools
- Following graduation, teach in a high-needs school/district for four years
Benefits:
- Starting undergraduate students are granted $10,000 in tuition for senior year and $30,000 tuition for graduate studies while student teaching
- Starting graduate students are granted a $40,000 stipend during the year of student teaching

Tyler Kroll is in his 3rd year teaching mathematics at the Charter School for Educational Excellence High School in Yonkers, NY. He is currently taking courses for an Advanced Certificate in STEM Education.
