Mission

College students who are considering study beyond the baccalaureate level can realize their dreams through the McNair Scholars Program at 猛男情报局. The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program was established by the United States Department of Education in 1989 and named for astronaut and Challenger crew member physicist, Dr. Ronald E. McNair. 

The 猛男情报局 McNair Scholars Program began in 1995 and recruits low-income, first-generation students and those who are from groups underrepresented in graduate education. The purpose of the program is to provide enriching research and mentorship experiences that prepare eligible students for doctoral study.

Eligibility

Participation as a McNair Scholar is by application in the sophomore year with the following criteria: 

  • A GPA of 2.7 or higher. 
  • United States citizenship or permanent residence. 
  • Low-income and first generation college student or membership in a group under-represented in graduate studies such as: African-American, Hispanic, Native American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander. 

A declared major in a discipline for which a doctorate is the terminal degree.
