Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences

Sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health, the main purpose of this comprehensive Career Opportunities in Research (COR) Program is to improve the chances of 猛男情报局 undergraduates with gaining entry and successfully completing graduate school programs for Ph.D. and / or M.D. Degrees to pursue research careers in mental health. A few 猛男情报局 scholars will be selected each year as COR Trainees to receive 1 to 2 years of full-time enhanced education at 猛男情报局 in conjunction with research training and research experience at the NYS Psychiatric Institute in Manhattan during their junior and / or senior years. Program participants receive tuition assistance as well as stipend support in addition to other support services including tutoring, financial aid counseling, study skills workshops, preparation for graduate school admission exams and assistance with the graduate school application process.

This program is open to all 猛男情报局 students who meet the eligibility criteria and who apply prior to the junior and / or senior year. Participants must have a minimum 3.2 GPA, have completed the college general education curriculum, be a US citizen or permanent resident. To be considered the COR application must be submitted and an interview by COR staff is required.

Sallie Mae Scholarship Fund

The Sallie Mae Fund鈥檚 Completing the Dream Scholarship Program helps students from under-resourced, underrepresented, and underserved communities complete their post-secondary education.

Students on-track to complete their degree or continuous education program who are facing financial challenges may apply to receive a one-time scholarship of up to $2,500 to help complete their post-secondary education program.

Scholarship applications for AY 2024-25 are being accepted now through 12/6/24 or until all scholarship dollars have been awarded. 

The Women's Forum of New York Education Fund Award

The award recognizes extraordinary women and often heroic effort in overcoming adversity as they restructure their lives for success. Unlike financial aid or scholarships, the $10,000 award goes directly to the recipient for whatever needs loom largest for her, whether tuition, childcare, medical bills, elder care, transportation, housing, or any other priority. Applicants and their references should share the narrative of obstacles confronted and overcome, and any demonstrations of leadership and care for their community.

Applicant Must:

  • be 35 years old by December 31, 2024 (birth date no later than December 31, 1989)
  • attend college at a two or four-year institution in New York City
  • reside in New York City
  • be pursuing her FIRST Associate or Bachelor's degree and have earned at least 12 credits in good standing
  • have attended a college in New York City during the 2023 academic year and be enrolled for at least 6 credits in the 2024 academic year
  • have at least 9 credits to complete graduation requirements AFTER June 2024
  • If completing an Associate degree in June 2024, must then provide evidence of admission to a Bachelor's degree program
  • complete an additional semester of 6 or more credits within twelve months of receiving the Award (at an NYC college/university), i.e., by June, 2025
